This is now a regular monthly date at our sponsor - Trafalgar.

Trafalgar is an English-style pub; they will have the full a la carte menu all afternoon, which is traditional pub grub with prices ranging from $60 (for snacks) up to $300 for steaks and all sorts in between. There are many choices for vegetarians. They have over 40 choices of English ales & ciders in bottles, plus all the usual pub drinks. There is an open terrace area if the weather is suitable, but also a large indoor area.

As our group sponsor, Trafalgar offers us a 20% discount on the a la carte menu and 10% on drinks (many of which will also already be at the lower happy hour price before discount until 9pm).

The terrace is open but also shaded. Please commit early if you can so that I can be clear with them about how much space we need.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Trafalgar isn't a charity - they sponsor our group (meaning that they pay for the cost of running this Meetup site), but, in return, if you come then please be prepared to buy at least 2 drinks or some food.

To get to Trafalgar you need to be on the south side of Lockhart Road on the block between Luard Road and Fenwick Street. Next to The White Stag is a lift lobby entrance. You need to take one of the left- or right-most lifts (i.e. not the middle one) to the 5th floor.

Any chance of having future Scrabble MeetUps at somewhere else in Wanchai or Central than Trafalgar? I like the game, but not the food there.

Unfortunately, for the next few months at least, no because Trafalgar sponsors the group (i.e. they pay the cost of running this website - Meetup isn't free) and that's the quid pro quo.

But eating there isn't compulsory - come after lunch and just buy a drink or two.

I'm open to suggestions for other venues outside the area Causeway Bay to Central (e.g. in Quarry Bay, or Kennedy Town) or for suggestions to consider in a few months time.

It would be nice to have it at different places. Apart from a fun game with nice folks, trying different foods would be added pleasure. Perhaps we can pay a small fee each time we attend to cover the cost of running the website, if the members agree?

is the gathering always held on Sunday? I have family gathering on whole Sunday usually.
Would there be on Saturday afternoon sometimes?

Sunday was generally by far the most popular time last time I asked around, but I'm happy to try a Saturday one month and see how that goes. Maybe in December...

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
