Spike's Cellar Launch Party

** Please note the updated date change - Now moved to Feb. 4, 2012 - if you have already got your ticket, no need to register once again, the old ticket will still work!**

Spike's Cellar is hosting a party on February 4, 2012 (Saturday) at 6:00pm to celebrate the official launch of its website (www.SpikesCellar.com).

The launch party will feature lots of delicious wines that the team at Spike's Cellar has personally selected, all of which we believe deserve a special place in your cellar. Come join us for the fabulous opportunity to enjoy many wines and delicious finger food.  Oh, did we mention, the event is FREE.  Awesome wine prizes will also be given away at the party.  Unfortunately space is limited, please register for you tickets below:

Information about Spike's Cellar:

Founded by a group of wine lovers, the purpose of the site to offer / share with wine lovers wines that we love personally, wines that we keep in our cellars and wines that we are proud to share with all our friends. We taste all the wines on offer and stand behind them 100%. We also aim to provide the wines at an as low as a price as we possible can, and the wines will always be limited in quality, and only available for a limited time.

Spike's Cellar is kicking off its launch with the offer of Chateau Palmer 2006 priced at HK$999 a bottle, which is 60% off from what you can buy this wine at retail (i.e., Watson's Wine Cellar). Yes you read it right, Palmer (not Alter Ego, but Palmer), at 60% off. This will be followed up by a delicious California Mouvedre for just slightly north of HK$110. We aim to offer a range of wines at different price points. Wines that are for your weekday night enjoyment with pizza, or wines that are for that special occasion.

We are also giving away a bottle of Haut-Brion 1994. For a chance to win the first growth, simply visit our site at www.SpikesCellar.com and register. Then by using your unique influencer code, refer your friends to sign up, and the top influencer will win the Haut-Brion. The runner-up will also win a bottle of highly prized, limited production Oregon Pinot Noir.

I really liked some of the wine I tasted and in fact I even bought few bottles. I liked the gentleman who was the host and I believe one of the proprietors. The hostesses were kind and generous and last but not least I wished I knew where the "Group" were because I was new. Maybe we should design and put on cute badges "so we can stand in the crowed" next time. Enjoyed the evening. Thanks

A meetup which you can't attend by accepting the invitation on meetup? So, it's not a meetup.

The Spikez Cellars guys did not organise this properly and that contributed to my friends and I wasting part of our Saturday evening. The planning was messy.

Loved the wine selection, good pours and lovely canapes. Everyone was really friendly so it was also a great way to meet other wine lovers. Hope they host further events in the future.

Actually , I really wantd to go but was unable to get tickets. I gave this a one star as it was easily within the organizers power and meetups capabilities to set the number of participants to the number of tickets available. Definitely only one star!

It was a disaster - It was totally oversubscribed and confusing. Instead of creating a positive image about Spike's Cellar, I think it is now well know for all the wrong reasons. They missed a wonderful opportunity, instead of organizing a second event, they changed the date and then told people they need tickets, while still allowing people to register. With so much negative feedback, hopefully they will learn from their mistakes.

Nice event, nice crowd and enjoyable sampling of quality wines. The canapes were tasty and enjoyable.

So the conclusion is you do need a tix to attend the event, so for those who have signed up via meetup but didn't register on Eventbrite and successfully gotten the tix, is a no go, correct?

So sorry all, just wanna double check. No ticket no entry, regardless of the RSVP, is that correct? Thanks :)

For future events similar to this, I reckon there are 2 options:

    1. Liaise with actual event organizer & secure tickets in advance. Number of attendees allowed = Number of tickets obtained.
    2. Alternatively, if no group booking is allowed by event organizer, one could simply communicate to members on event and NOT require Meetup registration.

Just my 2 cents' worth of opinion and what I myself would do. Cheers!

Yes, adjust the number of attendance to one so that no people can join.

To be honest, I think perhaps next time in case of similar event, the RVSP should be locked up so that people would not get themselves into this kind of confusion, for there is no use RSVPing here anyway.

I'm confused. So if I have already RSVP once the event was launched last week before it changed the date, do I still need to 'get a ticket'? Does the RSVP thing mean nothing?

this is confusing are we who have said we are going registered or not? If so, are we on a check list at Spike's?

    January 29, 2012

  • Victor C.
