Friday Meetup for ***Beginner*** Tennis Players

This Meetup is open to all people who are new to tennis and want to learn this wonderful sport. Anyone with a skill level of 0.0 (knows absolutely nothing about tennis) up through 3.0 (knows a little but wants to learn more) is welcome to attend this Meetup.  If you are an advanced tennis player (3.0 and up), please check out our Tuesday Advanced Meetup or our Friday Special Meetup.

The atmosphere that we will strive for is:

•  Relaxed and friendly

•  Fun and enjoyable

•  "No pressure" self paced learning

For more information on tennis player skill ratings, go to 'Pages' on this site and then select 'Tennis Player Ratings'.

Anyone wishing to assist with the instructional aspects of this Beginners Meetup, please contact Sieg Dugas through this site.

    Sieg's Weekly Tennis Quiz

A server has how many opportunities to get the serve into the serve box before losing the point?
    A.) Two.
    B.) One.
C.) Until the receiver gets bored.

The answer to last week's quiz is: B.

Thank you Shaphaun and Terry for taking last week's quiz!

Your Event Host's thoughts on the evening:

Terry and Denise... or is it Denise and Terry? ... I get you two mixed up... :-) ... you ladies are progressing nicely. Remember to relax and have fun. Everything else will follow.

Sheena, I agree... you're a strong 2.5 player (yayyy!). Our other group members have a lot to learn from you and I appreciate having you in our group.

Cynthia! You're a natural server! It will be fun to watch you perfect your serve. Your ground strokes are doing well also, so keep up the good work!

Matthew, it was good to have our alumni back and to see how well your game has progressed since you first joined us. Your patience and good humor are always welcome in our group.

Vivian, you have a good grasp of the basics. I think it's time now to introduce you to more advanced techniques like placement and net play. In a fun way of course!

Thanks everyone for a great evening!

You're very welcome Denise. Sieg's #1 rule is "have fun". If you get that right, you'll be at the head of the class ;-)

For those of you who are on the waiting list, please don't get discouraged. Currently, I'm the only instructor and I can only provide adequate instruction to about 6 people.

Unless something comes up, Gerry will be back in late April and with a 2nd instructor we'll be able to raise the RSVP limit at that time. If you're on the waiting list and you feel your rating is at least 3.0, then please consider playing in Susan's meetup. She's a wonderful event host and her group is great fun.

Susan and some of her group are going to Hickory Tavern after the meetup and we've been invited to join them. Everyone is welcome, including those who are signed up, waitlisted, and even those who've cancelled their RSVPs. For planning purposes, I imagine we'll be there around 8:30PM until whenever...

Please stop by if you can.
