Seeing Garden of the Gods from horseback is beautiful. Early to mid summer is better to avoid Colorado's summer monsoon season. The park's website is www.gardenofthegods.com. Please indicate if you're interested. I did this about 10 years ago.
Most folks have expressed an interest in Saturday June 22. But Sunday, June 23 is also a possibility. Academy Stables, near the Park provides the guided rides. Their website is www.academyridingstables.com. The cost for the ride is $62. Must reserve with your cc. Cc's won't be charged at time of reservation. Cancellation deadline is 72 hours but if it's raining when we arrive, we can cancel then. Two-hour rides are available at 9:30 AM or 12:30 PM. The majority of riders have expressed a preference for the 12:30 PM ride. Must arrive 45 minutes before the ride. There is a cafe for lunch inside the Park but we might want to bring along a large snack as we will probably be riding thru what would normally be lunch hour. You'll also want to bring something to drink while on the ride. Maximum participation is 14 riders.
I have reserved the ride with my reservation. When you reserve, ask to be included in the "Horse Around" ride at 12:30 PM on Saturday, June 22. The phone number is[masked]-0410.
The Stable is about 65 miles from my house via I-25 South and I live in Aurora. We will meet at Academy Stables at 4 El Paso Blvd. in Colorado Springs. The wrangles will lead us into the park.
This is an ideal carpool/gas-sharing situation. I can take 3 people in my vehicle.
