I am a lawyer by trade, but I have been a music lover since I was about three. My Dad introduced me to music from all over the world and passed on his eclectic tastes.
Playing and listening, yes. Now that I've seen what good hosting entails, I will try to take a crack at it at some point.
Joe Satriani, Iron Maiden, Boards of Canada, most country music artists (I hope you won't hold that against me), Jimmy Cliff. My musical tastes are diverse, so the list would go on and on.
The bass guitar. And I'm good at it. I started playing in high school and I've played the instrument since then. At this point, I play it more like a guitar or another front-and-center instrument than the rhythm instrument it's supposed to be.
Everything I'd hoped. Looking forward to more of the same.
Hey Mark! Dubai has some rather strict laws about entertainment. You can read an article here:
Basically if it's a private function, it shouldn't matter. But anything public or advertised technically requires an entertainment permit/license. So the open mic I used to play at was in the grey zone, and they eventually shut down after the 'crackdown' last year.
Hi Mark, Welcome to Dubai! If you're interested in paddling as in Dragon Boat racing, you're welcome to check our international team. We meet on Saturday mornings at 8am at Barasti beach. Don't let the "racing" scare you, we mostly practice for it :-))
