My dog Fluff has identifiable DNA of the Chow, the Schnauzer, with a trace of pug, and possibly Vizla! I did not make that up :) But neither of his parents were full-breed. In this photo he's having a bad hair day, but in real life he often looks like Chopper, the Traveler's Insurance dog. He's medium size, about 25 lbs smaller than 65-lb. Chopper!
We live east of Sugar Land. My dog & I found each other when he showed up at the school where I was teaching, looking for food, or an education, fun with the kids, or a new home! Such a smart dog to go to school!
My dog's favorite social activity is taking a walk with his neighbor buddy. They have an age difference, and Fluff usually gets way too caught up in sniffing and marking, where his friend is more of a straightforward walker. He's 9 now, and he loves his walks more than anything. The longer, the better! He likes to see what's going on. He is really well-accustomed to other dogs, and he goes a lot of places. He also has a new housemate, a small German Shepherd, age 3, who tries to get him to play. It has perked him up a lot.
We like to go with our friends to Bill Archer out in Bear Creek, but when its just him and me, I usually trot over to Danny Jackson, cause I'm lazy like that. We love to go to the Boneyard and hang out together with others. He enjoys walking behind the bar there, and trying to get to the food truck. He also likes to climb up on the picnic tables and get a n overview Occasionally we go to West Alabama Ice House, but I feel anxious there, since there is no fence. He has to stay on the leash, since he's an explorer who could get into big trouble there. It bores him to stay on the leash when there are so many dogs and food morsels around. So I end up walking him around the place instead of talking much with people. A friend told me about a place called Sway, but we haven't been there yet. We have enjoyed patio dining at Ziggy's with this group!
My dog sometimes tries playing alpha dog with larger dogs by mounting them or hanging over their necks, but its just fun to him. He is not a fighter, and he will get off when the other dog tells him to. I have never seen him in a real fight. He is also kind to smaller dogs. He sometimes barks at tall strangers, especially if they are carrying anything he could construe as a weapon, like gardening tools. Oh, and he likes to be up high, on picnic tables or other inappropriate places. That's another reason why I like the Boneyard so much. Very few people get bothered by that over there!
My dog and I love dog groups!
