My phone in case you get lost:[masked]

Gathering Place:  Skip the first parking lot, 40 Acre Lake, after entering the park and proceed on the park road until the next large parking lot you see on your left.  The group should be visible at that lot somewhere there or near the restrooms.

Great hike, gorgeous day. Sorry I had it cut it short but had plans and didn't want to be late.

Beautiful day. I hardly broke a sweat. Even the alligators looked happy.

The restaurant even had two vegan options on the menu and one was not a veggie burger. I think this day made up for the last two hiking adventures where we had:

    Poison oak
    Chiggers
    Rain downpours
    Bushwacking without a trail
    Challenging creek crossing

This one was positively uneventful except for the tail of the group being separated from the head for a brief time.

Natural beauty, community, physical growth. Hugo hit on all cylinders at Brazos Bend yesterday. The weather blessed us like never before in my hiking experience.

As always, people interested in giving rides or looking for a ride in the Hermann Park/Museum District area or nearby or on the way, let's meet at the community center at 2020 Hermann Drive and be ready to leave by 10AM.

Thanks Steven. We will see how it sorts out. FYI, the following are the ones in my carpool so far: Pete B, Luz, Von, and Sandra. Patrick - you may go with Steven or Scott ONeil or perhaps another driver will show up?

Anyone going to bring their mountain bikes for a pre-hike ride? They should have bike racks to secure our bikes to, right?

    October 13, 2013

    • Tracey

Where did you find them at? I couldn't find them at Walmart and Academy here. (Decided to miss the hike to catch up on sleep anyway)

      October 19, 2013

    • Beth

Anyone needing a ride to Brazos,I still have room for one person.I will be purchasing a park pass.Hugo is right ,in the end you save a lot by getting one!

    October 18, 2013

  • Kevin

i know nothing about a park pass. where do you get one? what is it, like a fishing license. so everyone needs a park pass to attend this hike? also, is this a walk or a hike? what will we be walking on.

    October 18, 2013

    • Tracey

The Texas State Parks Pass is not necessary for getting in. You just pay a $6-7 entry fee instead. The hike is more of a walk on mostly gravel/dirt-paved paths if I recall correctly. (Hugo may have included a little walking down asphalt-paved roads to get from one place to another.)

Is there anyone coming from the Woodlands / Spring area that would like to carpool?

    October 17, 2013

    • Hector T.

I would be in for carpooling from Spring, but I can't make it to the after the hike event.

      October 17, 2013

  • Rigoberto C.

What this I keep hearing about a park pass. What is this for and will I need to purchase one to get in the park. And if so, how much is it ?

      October 17, 2013

I'm interested in doing a carpool from the Hermann Park location, but I can't go to the after event this time.

    October 17, 2013

Will the hike get cancelled if it rains? I think there is 30% for Saturday.

    October 17, 2013

  • Rigoberto C.

If anyone has a park pass I would be happy to give you a ride from the NW area. I live 290 and Hwy 6 area. Don't really want to pay an entry fee if I don't have to. [masked]

Hi! I am new to this group and this is my first hike. Is it OK if a bring my dog?

    October 14, 2013

    • Hugo

Its fine to bring pets. Just bring a leash in case it is required in parts of the park.

      October 14, 2013

    • Beth

There are leash length limits b/c of the alligators. "...pets are allowed on leash only, and the leash can be no longer than six feet. Do not allow pets to drink from or enter the water." I've seen it enforced when I've cycled there. On a side note, there are doggy water stops on some of the more heavily used trails.

      October 14, 2013

How many miles will this hike be ?
