POSTPONED TO THANKSGIVING WEEKEND'S SUNDAY DUE TO POSSIBLE RAIN AND MUDDY/SOGGY GROUND.

This is hike #1 of a double header Sunday.  Join us for one or both for more exercise and fun :-)

Directions to Cullinan Park Parking: GPS Coordinates [masked], [masked]) Go to the park's main and only parking lot.  Enter the park at the driveway just north of Hull Ln on Hwy 6.  There should be a sign for the park at the entry for the park.  Note the map above takes you to the closest intersection only but it's close enough that you should notice the park entry.  The park entrance driveway is between the Sugar Land Regional Airport and an apartment complex called Parkpoint or something.

Meeting / Start Point: the westmost end of the driveway; Southwest corner of that concrete parking lot

Hike: We'll first do the blue route in Cullinan and then the red route out and back on the Red Gully.  For the route map: CLICK HERE

Trail Conditions: Easy, dirt or mixed dirt and thick short grass.  Regular shoes are fine.

Restrooms: I don't recall there being a restroom at Cullinan.  Please visit the restrooms at the nearby Hwy 6 Chevron, Kroger, or HEB depending on where you're coming from.

Cell Phone Contact: Call[masked] for questions or if you're running late.

Weather Forecast: Click HERE

Official Park Site: Click HERE

Yelp! Reviews: Click HERE

After-Hike Event:  The Flying Saucer in the scenic Sugar Land Town Center after the Oyster Creek hike around 1:30 pm

I am sorry, I've looked forward to this all week. I may go over anyway and walk around a bit if it is just 'a little rainy'.

am now glad I didn't go by myself.... I would have walked lost in those little woods forever. and yes when it rains it would be very muddy.

I enjoyed the walk, was able to move from group to group and talk with many of the walkers. I don't get bitten by mosquitoes but I have a few chiggers from the tall grass. the price of outdoor fun.

Today's gray weather didn't do Cullinan Park justice, so I uploaded some of my favorite Cullinan Park Photos & Videos to our Flickr site. You can see these and many photos and videos of our other adventures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/co...
The Cullinan photos alone are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/co...
    Enjoy!

If anyone has trouble finding parking at Cullinan, park at the Kroger here: https://plus.google.com/11305455...

and I'll come pick you up.

If possible, bring mosquito spray. I'll have a spray bottle with me, too.

I am totally unfamiliar with Houston - so how do I get to Cullinan Park and Red Gully from Spring?

    November 30, 2013

    • Tracey

Here's what Google Maps came up with for me: http://goo.gl/maps/Q9... I prefer to take 45 and 59 through downtown because it's more "scenic."

I will be driving from around T.C. Jester and Cypresswood if anyone from points north wants to car pool. I will be doing both hikes. I can take up to 3.

Steve, what is the name of the funeral home?

      December 1, 2013

    • Steve R.

I don't know but you can't miss it. It is at the northwest corner of T.C. Jester and FM 1960 and the Walmart surrounds it. It is Brookside Funeral Home Champions.

Will there be a hike on Saturday the 30th?

    November 24, 2013

    • Tracey

I intend to plan a "downtown Houston tourists' walk" for Friday tentatively. If parking is cheaper on Saturday than Friday, then it might be set to Saturday instead.

      November 24, 2013

    • Tracey

Well, it is just an intention for now. If Google Maps and Yelp don't show enough interesting streets to walk through, then it will not be planned.

In the cold light of day, pun intended, walking the park with others was what had me excited, will take my dag out and around a local park and hurry home and bake some cookies.

This hike has been moved a week later. There is more rain forecasted than I had hoped for when scheduling this hike. Sorry for the change.
