H.A.T.s _04_2013 Spring Creek Greenway Trail - Pundt to Carter ~12 miles

This is a longer hike than most, but has been traveled before by the group. I am scheduling earlier in the day to avoid some of the heat.

This is a repeat of the 2nd of about 5 hikes along the Spring Creek Greenway Trail from Southeast to Northwest. I could not find the first so we will have to punt it.

I'm so glad I finally finished the full 12 miles, that's my record so far. Thanks so much Gloria for looking after us. You and Jodi are a lot of fun to be around and really fast hikers. :)

Beautiful weather, terrific group, lovely trail/park (and really close to me!). Thanks all!
PS to Hugo: we did figure out about the horse trail, for which the park/hike gets extra points.

I just remembered that I think there is horse trail parallel to the paved trail can you use. It will make it easier on your feet.

Looks like I won't be able to make it, seems that I need to go figure out what happened to the RV. Got a call that I need to come take a look at it.

    May 10, 2014

    • David

Yep same here had to bail the second time I had to cancel my RSVP how frustrating.

    raining?

    May 10, 2014

    • Jodi A.

The hikes are called off if rain chances are 60% or more. According to the ABC news website, rain chances today are only 20%. If the hike is called off Dan will make that call.

      thanks jodi

  • Rachel

Uh, is it incredibly unrealistic to go hiking 12 miles when I have never hiked before?

    May 6, 2014

    • Janey

A couple of other tips, pace yourself and more importantly hydrate well. It's going to be warm and humid. You'll need to drink around a liter of water an hour so plan accordingly. You'll also need some type of fuel for hike of this length. From lots of cycling, Power Bars are my favorites. Hope this helps!

    May 9, 2014

  • Adam

I've never been to Pundt Park. Looks like a nice trail though. Can't wait to meet you guys!

  • JaSara

Is the hike rain or shine?

    May 5, 2014

    • Janey

Really? So if it's raining the hike is off? Could you please quantify? As warm as it is I'm fine with drizzle as long as there's no lightning.

I believe that people who get out and experience nature will want to protect our environment for the good of all life. Therefore I am very happy to see this many people get out and enjoy nature.
