The trail route map is my best guide. The start point is exactly where you want to park. I often ran into the wrong parking lot and missed the group when I first hiked with the group last November.

Once you find out the meet point from the trail route, go back to Google map to locate the place and see the place with Earth (satellite) view and street view. After I started doing this, I have been able to find the group even I was late.

There was only one trail available at this time, however it was fine, in the woods and not too hot. Lots of mosquitos though!! The other walk was beautiful, hot and not too long. Enjoyed having lunch by the water at Landry's. A wonderful day. Thanks Dan for planning it....

Tomorrow is National Trails Day. So the first location, Armond Bayou may be a little full of people. Starting with an early morning walkabout for children 6-8:30.

Between that and the construction at the arburetum we will be a little constrained from our normal hikes. Therefore I will add a little bonus hike (~1.5 mi.) on the second hike. It will be a combination of parks and walking through residential neighborhoods.

On May 28th I got an email invitation for this June 7th hike but it said it was in Seabrook. Has the location changed? Or is there still a Seabrook hike this Saturday, too?

I am happy to see this many people sign up. This is a beautiful set of parks. Great place to enjoy nature and the outdoors. Those who enjoy the outdoors are more responsible citizens of our planet, appreciating the inter-connectedness of life. I intend these hikes to be somewhat mid-range between the hit the trail hard style to that of slowing down a bit to enjoy the sights. However enjoy it as you like, above all enjoy your time on these hikes.

About what time will the second hike commence? I can't make both legs but would like to participate in one or the other.

    June 2, 2014

    • Dan

Not sure. There is some trail construction at the arburetum so we need to 'wing it'. Save my number and text me I can tell you what park we are at.

      June 3, 2014

  • Dan

I recommend carpooling as we are going to seashore parks and will be moving the hike once in the middle of the day. The fewer cars means less risk someone will not be able find a spot.

I hope this is not too "urban"....I like the idea of Kemah Boardwalk for seafood. That will be worth the drive.
