Gathering Place:  After you enter the park from off of S. Pleasant Valley Rd, park in any of the two large parking lots and look for us near the lots, probably under the shade of a tree nearby.

The Hike: We will do a clockwise loop from Longhorn Shores.   For route trail maps: CLICK HERE.

Optional After Hike Event :  I have to head out right away.  I'll leave it to the group to plan something if interested.

Loved this urban hike...sorry I missed y'all! Did u go thru the ball diamond and around the power plant to pleasant valley bridge too? I am spoiled by LSHT signs!

Missed you Dana. Glad to hear you went anyway. It was 97 degrees when we finished. Yes I believe we went the same way also.

Ditto, Candace, I was just born too late! Those belts lacquered to the railing tickled my fancy!

This was a nice hike on paved and fine gravel surfaces, and under trees more than half the time. There were restrooms available. Pace was good, had some breeze and cloud cover. Company was great! Thanks Hugo!

I am parked in the softball parking lots just before overpass of the river. My blue jeep should be visible at entrance to park lot.

Feel free to wear sneakers on this hike if you hate wearing hiking boots as much as I do. (Sandals are not recommended because the small rocks from the crushed gravel can get under your foot.)

Are there bathrooms along the way? Will we be walking under trees? Any ideas for a shower after the hike (before driving 3 hrs back home)?

Actually, there are more than a few restrooms; it's in an urban area so there are also lots of gas stations (not quite up too Buc-ee's standards), and ther are a couple of ball park restrooms which should hopefully be clean.

There are showers by Deep Eddy pool which is in the vicinity of the trail. http://austintexas.go...

If the above picture is of Lady Bird Loop, looks like it is paved. Can someone confirm? Thanks!

The part you are walking is about 35% paved and crushed gravel or hard packed dirt (little) the rest.

This is my first hike with hats. I normally hike in the Sam Houston National Forest. Really looking forward to this.

Dana's # is[masked]! I was driving into Austin on Saturday to hang with my brother. I would be happy to car pool if it makes sense logistically. I live in Spring.

Hi Dana! Let's carpool another time as I already have plans this trip. Can you tell me if we will be walking under trees? The forest has spoiled me. See you on the trail.

Hugo-I will be in Austin this coming weekend for a meeting. I have a flight to NY at 3 pm though-so I will leave the hike a bit earlier say 12 noon on Sunday.

Longhorn Shores is not at the address on Bluebonnet Ln; it looks more like Pleasant Valley Dr.

I just edited the address and map. If it's wrong, let me know and I'll change it back for you.

Oops thanks for catching and adjusting.
