Less of a big data question but Is anyone interested in creating a startup with me dedicated to data visualization or neural networking? I'm exploring some ideas and would love to work with some local data scientists.

hi mark, I was thinking of creating a competitor product to Tableau or R but just a bit more snazzy. What do you think....too big of a task?

While the Google Hangout went decently well, I think we should have a bluetooth or some remote microphone on the speaker. Voice was low. And if anyone asks a question, its better the presenter repeats the question since people online may not hear the questions from the room. If we can take care of this, we can see that all our future presentations are online and maybe even get remote speakers presenting for us!

There is a lot of interest on RHadoop. This is also my topic (Enabling R on Hadoop) for the coming Hadoop Summit if gets approved (It was the #2 most voted topic in user voting). Depending on interest, I may be able to present this one in April meetup.

Good that we finally added the Remote option. I know atleast a few guys who wanted to attend the meetup, but didn't want to spend 60-90 mins one way in Houston Rushhour traffic. Lets make it a practice to put all our future meetups on Google+ Hangouts.

Hello Mark and Ravi , We live in the Woodlands. We couldn't attend the event due to weather challenges. The remote option is great way to be intouch of the group and learn without fail whether it rains or shines.

Should we bring a laptop, please? If so, Windows or Linux, please?
    Thanks,
    Erin

Erin, I was planning a slide presentation only. However, exercises are always a good idea, so I will try to think of a lab in the cloud. If that works out, anything that gives you ssh access (putty in Windows or ssh in Linux) will do.
