Hey, what's up? I recently moved to the Heights from DC. And I have to say I love the neighborhood and the city is quickly growing on me. I'm looking forward to meeting some fellow... Is it Heightsies?
The Houston Heights has plenty of fab things to do, but I couldn't find any groups that seemed to monopolize on that…. Did I miss one? Because I will surely close this one down ASAP and bow at the feet of someone else who wants to take on “organizer” and then RSVP to all the events I want so badly to be taking place.
This all started on the Great Quest of 2011 to find people who wanted to group together to ride cruiser bicycles…. Alas, there are plenty of mountain biking groups who wanted to throw down and sweat it out, but I wanted more of the “let’s ride and smell the blooming flowers”. Then I started looking for a dog walking group… sure there’s one similar where you can, ahem, work out with your dog, but really.... my dogs.... working out? Not happening. Nothing wrong with these groups at all, however, they definitely weren’t what I was looking for.
Then I started thinking about all these other super dee duper fun things that happen here in the Heights, festivals, community theater performances, new restaurants, new bars, charity events to help with, fundraisers to fund raise with… the list goes on and on. I travel quite a bit for work so I’d like to find some other people who don’t mind arranging and hosting activities to keep the group going in my absences. I’m in my late twenties, but I’m not necessarily gauging a certain age range on this bad boy here, just be fun, interesting and ready to mingle. Or be socially awkward and angry, but just know that I’m going to work on cheering you up!
