Rep Gene Green (TX-29) Town Hall Meeting - Gulf Freeway

George Sanchez School (map)

Selected By: Sean C.

Democratic Congressman Gene Green, representing Texas's 29th Congressional District, will be holding four town hall meetings over the next three days. These town hall meetings are a great opportunity for liberty loving and constitutionally minded citizens such as ourselves to discuss our concerns with an influential member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which recently produced two pieces of legislation that have caught the public's attention:
1. HR 2454 "American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009", aka "Cap and Trade" or more appropriately "Cap and Tax"
2. HR 3200 "America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009", aka "Health Insurance Reform" or more appropriately "ObamaCare"

Rep Gene Green is holding town hall meetings on August 3, 4, and 5:
- August 3, Melrose Park Community Center @ 7:00 PM
- August 4, East Freeway HPD Storefront @ 6:30 PM
- August 5, Senior Citizen's Issues Forum @ 10:00 AM
- August 5, George Sanchez School @ 6:30 PM

Please consider attending one or more of these town hall meetings and take advantage of this timely opportunity to educate Representative Green about the detrimental effects these pieces of legislation will have on Houston and the entire country, and to remind him of his obligation to support and defend the Constitution. If you're a voting resident of the 29th Congressional District, please remember to say so if you have an opportunity to speak - this will impress upon Rep. Gene Green that his constituents are upset by his recent voting record.

If you're able to attend, don't forget to ask Rep. Gene Green about his position on HR 1207 "Audit the Fed"!

Possibly more than 200 attended this meeting - held in a classroom w/no A/C at a school. These were mostly dissenters to healthcare, cap and trade, and big government expansion. Rep. Green took up so much time just talking at first that the group began asking if he was "filibustering". He frequently threatened to stop the meeting when people booed or shouted questions on statements that he was making. He claimed that the dissenters were an organized mob hired to disrupt - all that he said was political rhetoric. One young man came in after mtg. started obviously planning to incite some sort of altercation - saying "You people are all idiots, you don't know what you're talking about" when none of us had even said anything! Obviously a "plant" by somebody - claimed he "served America daily" but would not divulge WHAT he did. Another woman came out during the meeting & told the interns that group was "like a lynchmob". Educational! But Green obviously has his mind made up &won't change.
