IMAX Premiere Screening of the Chasing Ice film

  • June 18, 2013 · 6:30 PM

Undeniable evidence of our changing planet is captured by environmental photographer James Balog through revolutionary time-lapse cameras deployed by the Extreme Ice Survey capturing a multi-year record of the world's changing glaciers. In Chasing Ice, witness the hauntingly beautiful videos that compress years into seconds and capture ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate. The vivid images of the majestic ice caps slowly melting away are set to Academy-Award nominated soundtrack featuring Scarlett Johansson. Join oceanography and climate change researcher Dr. John B. Anderson of Rice University at HMNS for the premiere screening of the film Chasing Ice in Houston in the Wortham Giant Screen Theatre. This is a one-night-only event.

Fair warning: The IMAX is a large place, but there will be a large demand for these tickets.

If there is interest, we may set up meeting for dinner just before.

This film was stunning and I have placed it on my must-see list for recommended documentaries. This will be a critically important film in the coming years.

Mary Elizabeth, Davis Coombe is listed in the credits on the web page as editor. I agress a transcript would be great and the editing was attention getting.

Thanks, Jill. I have to look him up! I don't always "get" what editors do, but that movie was really well done.

Jill, it was just a stunning movie. Can I ask who edited it? The editor was very, very good. I have a transcription company and we would love to record and transcribe speakers when you have one, or the Q&A portion when you don't. You can put the Q&A on your website, make a podcast of the speaker's presentation, and use parts of the transcript for SEO optimization. We can trade for advertising and sometimes even donate services. I'm a member and my transcriptionists and I are all science buffs. We do the transcripts for HGO and the MFAH.

Being professionally rresponsible, does not necessarily bite the hand that feeds you but a lot of corporate managers would not agree.

This sounds so awesome, however, sometimes it's hard for me to make these week day events. I will pencil it in and make sure to update this if it looks like I can't make it. Im excited to see this!

Super secret members have been talking about this event since it was announced at an earlier museum lecture where there was a large number of us. This might be a good time for many of you to go ahead and get that membership you've been considering. I expect at least 50 of us at this one-time event. Cheers, John

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
