RSVPS are closed for this event.

During this DIY Workshop, Paula Puffer will guide you through making  a set of glow stick spinners  and a cold cathode fluorescent light wand for light painting.  As part of the class you'll receive a handout with detailed instructions/supply lists to make the following:

  • Glow Stick Spinners
  • Orb Spinners
  • CCFL Light wands
  • LED Light wands

And other resources for really cool light toys.

The second part of the class will include examples of light painting, and what types of equipment and settings you need to use to get the best results.

The cost of the class includes the following:

  • Light tubes
  • inverters
  • Battery case
  • Mounting devices for the wand
  • connectors
  • Switches
  • Glowsticks

We'll also provide you with access to:

  • Electrical Tape
  • Wire Strippers
  • Crimpers

You'll need to bring 8 AA batteries with you. We recommend that you buy Rayovac batteries or better for the wand.

A photo walk at the Nassau Bay Park in Nassau Bay, Texas is scheduled to follow the class so that folks can play with their new creations.

Part of this meetup will be dinner at Fuddruckers before the Light Painting Photowalk at Nassau Bay.

This is weird. Now it won't let me click YES. So I can't move on. I guess you might as well let the next person on the waiting list make the show.

Howdy, looks like most folks have paid, THANKS! This project is coming out of Paula's pockets and we are obligated to repay her. Paula has put a lot into this for you guys; other groups are charging $79 to sit in a room and listen to someone as they show you a slide show. After THIS event you will go home with a cool tool and the knowledge how to use it. Pay up or stay home. No need for any more snarky emails about "having to pay".

Hi folks. Something I didn't mention last night, if this event fills up (only 5 spots left) and a waiting list forms, and if you get bumped for not paying, people in the waiting list will slot in. So you will have trouble getting back into the event. If you plan to attend, help us cover Paula's expenses ... pay the 20 bucks if you RSVPed longer than 24 hours ago. Come'on folks, don't make me beg, I get grumpy when I have to beg you guys to pony-up ...

I had to change my RSVP as I found out today that i will have to work on the 10th if I want to keep my job. Hopefully you will have this class again sometime.

So we start at 2:00pm? Is it too early for the light effect? I remember last posting mentioned start at 6:00pm. We meet at Fuddruckers before the class at 2:00pm?

    October 18, 2012

    • Dong Nguyen

Thank you all for the information. I didn't know there are two different meetups. I signed up for both. See you all there.

Dong: since "comments" get emailed to all participants, if you need to ask the organizer a question, please re-read the meetup(s) information, then contact the organizer/host directly. See our FAQ page and look for the heading "I have a question about an event. I don't feel its being organized correctly." Asking questions that have already been answered in the meetup description floods people's inboxs. If all 1500 members chose to ignore the meetup description and just post questions, the group would become an absolute nightmare to manage. This would lead to our volunteers and hosts to give up and quit. What fun would this group be with no events? So again ... as mentioned to you previously, if you have any further questions or complaints about an event(s), PLEASE CONTACT ME (or Paula) DIRECTLY. We will reply with additional details or direct you to the meetup description. Thank you.
