Kernel, my adorable bud, has passed away. It is truly terrible.
He was nine and a half years old. I am sure many of you have seen him at the events.

Pixel, his companion, is sharing in our grief. She is almost nine years old.

It is a terrible, terrible thing to lose a pet who has grown so close to our family. We have determined that the most likely cause is poisonous mushrooms found in the backyard. Katy and many areas in Houston are known to have poisonous mushrooms, please be very careful to fully remove them from your yards. We have learned our lesson in the worst way.

Ryan,

I am so sorry for you loss. That is a terrible tragedy.
Kernel was a great boy and will be missed greatly.

I am sure he was met at the bridge by tons of other puggies making him feel welcomed.

I am really very sorry for your loss. I understand when you say they are part of the family. My husband calls ours a hug. half human and half pug. Thanks for sharing about the mushrooms. We have them in our front yard. My daughter told me the other day I needed to remove them that she heard they were poisonous and I didn't listen to her. I will remove them now. My heart is sad for your loss.

My condolences to you and yours. I can't even imagine what you're going thru but hope you will heal soon and fill your void with another 4 legged bundle of joy. Take care...

THe problem is you really can't tell which are edible unless you are an expert....many lethal varieties resemble the edibles. Another pug site recommends removing all mushrooms from your puggy's play areas.

And we are sorry to hear of Kernel; we never met him but he looked like a great puggy-boy.

I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved puggie, Kernel.

My puppy, Mister Marlon Brando ('Brando' for short), passed away two weekends ago. He was left outside by the man who was watching him for more than two hours and succumbed to the heat. He was only 3 years old.

I miss him dearly, but I feel I would be remiss if I didn't warn other potential pug owners of the dangers that heat could incur. My failure to give specific direction to this man may have caused the death of one of my best friends.

I'm a pug lover for life, and will not let the same mistake happen again with my next puggie.
