    Rails 4 on Ruby 2.1 is indeed wicked fast. But regarding deploying to Heroku it's also worth noting that Heroku has recently optimized their Ruby/Rails buildpack to avoid repeat work, pre-cache installs of common gems, etc. so you're seeing the benefits of that as well.
