This is a hands-on prose workshop. We will be writing and reading aloud as we create short pieces meant to evoke particular emotions.

Please bring a laptop or notebook and writing utensil. You do not have to read your piece aloud if you don't want to - the moderator can read for you.

This is a small venue.  We have stopped limiting RSVPs, but please be aware that there may not be space to accommodate latecomers.  Our usual sweet spot for hands-on workshops is between 10 and 14.

Had a lot of fun! Thanks for hosting this one--I need to go purchase the Emotion Thesaurus. Also really want The Negative Trait Thesaurus by the same person! :)

Great and diverse group of writers attended. Keri discussed how we can convey emotions in our work, without resorting to "telling the reader -She felt scared-"
Keri then had us write a short scene, three different times, with a different emotional response to be felt by the reader.
This was a wonderful exercise and the participants discussed each scene.
    I learned a lot!
Thank you all for coming and making this a success.

Is this just a loose social thing or is there sufficient structure and substance to actually get things done in a constructive manner? I will only attend any event if the option is constructive / professional.

Workshops are structured sessions in small groups meant to concentrate effort on either exercises or discussion, depending on the topic. Social events like the Monthly Meeting and the Friday Salon are well-marked as social events. Workshops are working meetings for peer education. All attendees come prepared to write, learn, and share their expertise and experience. Every workshop is different in tone and structure depending on the topic and the moderator.

Sounds like it would be fun but I have a birthday party for a Niece to go to, so I can't.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
