Dr. John at Miller Outdoor Theater with an early picnic

Bring your best singing voice and dance moves.  Come early and bring picnic type food (fried chicken, ham and cheese, chips, hot dogs, .....) to share with your friends.  If enough folks want we can grill some hot dogs and hamburgers.

We'll sit on the line between the blankets and lawn chairs on the hill so you can do either. You can't have glass but you can bring your ice chest and box wine.

Music starts at 8:15 but parking can be tricky so go early.

I had WAY TOO MUCH FUN. Here is what i just posted on FB- lol -
When Dr John broke into the "marching parade" song ALL ON A MARDI GRAS DAY I flew out of my seat & into the aisle- burst into pirouettes -right up the main aisle L to the stage- somewhere along the way picked up an imaginary umbrella somewhere along the way- LOL - across the front row- main aisle R- swinging my "umbrella' in sheer ecstasy- By the time I headed up the other aisle towards the back - must have been infectious- because everybody wanted to give the big 'dancing bear' the high 5.

    • Pam - P.

Sorry we missed that one!!! LOL No fear - some of us were dancing with or without umbrellas - and a certain somebody followed the parade all around the grounds! :)

Dont shoot me guys. I am kinda bugged myself. There were a couple other events last nite I should have mentioned. I had hi doubts I would make it myself in 1st place didn't have any idea how cool they really were in the end. A very cool club called ReHAB had a grand opening party with lots of local musicians- Romeo Dogs, Rock Romano of Dr Rockit- Herschel Berry , all of the Rounders ( much overlap there). & special guests like Annika Chambers, Sandy Hickey & yours truly. It was a lot crazier than i expected. Likewise at next stop.
First time I made it to Boom BOOM BOOM ROOM- and my 25+ yr friends the Zydeco Dots were there. Plus Annika, & Sandy were already there -and I popped in. But we surely will do it again - Boom boom wants them back - RIght now- goin back for a bit more sleep. Love yall - & Thanks.
PS I have a cool recording I want yall to hear some time.

So, Gary, did you get tickets for the seats or not? We won't worry, but you better come LOOK FOR US! : )

Yes - I was out looking for you guys and Shelva waved me down. (thanks sweetie) I offered a couple of seats up - but that would have broken the group so they refused but thanked me. I think you guys understand- if ever a problem -simply let me know. The guy that sat next to me last nite is in the biz- and he is helping me in several ways as a consultant of sorts. Shelva & I are in contact- trying to get a few events going. Appreciate all your help too & glad to be part of the group.

Fun time! And some of us used our umbrellas for the Mardi Gras song! Great turnout at Miller, but no problem parking! A bit of hot sun, then a few misty sprinkles, then just a wonderful pleasant evening! Oh, and love that chicken from Popeye's! hehe...inside joke, y'all! What happens at MOT stays at MOT!!

I would love to find someone to ride or car pool with. I live near Bear Creek Park.

Connie, you can ride with me. I am not really much closer to the park, but it would be nice to carpool, and I am familiar with this venue. [masked]

How much does it cost and do we have to get tickets in advance (like we did for the symphony a few months ago). I would love to hear Dr. John in person.

Well, Gary you got me beat...'72! I saw him in Thibodaux, Louisiana back in '74-'76ish. Snuck back stage and talked to him in his dressing room...knew his cousin "Snake".

Cool - Not really a competition- Glad you got hip very early on too. I told him once I was not sure if he would remember it - but I was at that Carnegie Hall gig. He was kinda surprised- he remembered it well. I read later how that was his first big break. Plus- in hingsight- how do you EVER forget playing Carnegie Hall. (<,

"How come my dog don't bark when you come around." Dr John the Night Tripper has been on top of my list of favorite music since I saw him get his big break at Carnegie Hall in 1972. We had 2nd row seats for Dr John, Spirit, & Canned Heat. Got to hang out with him a few times over the years too- even picked him up from the airport once.

I been in the right place
But it must have been the wrong time
I'd of said the right thing
But I must have used the wrong line
I been in the right trip
But I must have used the wrong car
My head was in a bad place
And I'm wondering what it's good for...

I heard his song on American Roots while driving to Shreveport. Good timing - gonna be in the right place for a little Dr. John.
