Camp Oasis: A Science and Arts Day Camp for Kids

Organized by Houston Oasis, the first annual Camp Oasis will be a one-day science and arts day camp and a fully secular alternative to vacation Bible school for children ages 3-12.

Campers will have an enriching and fun afternoon filled with science, music and song, summer crafts, learning about the sun through a sun filtered telescope, cooking, and even an introduction to Chinese character writing.

Parents are welcome to stay and attend, and there will be a special educational session for the adults as well.

The cost for Camp Oasis is $10 per child, or $25 per family, and will include one Camp Oasis t-shirt per child.

A great update on the musical portion of Camp Oasis, from local musician TC Smythe who will be one of our volunteers! "We are working on a great music and arts segment for Camp Oasis. If you're still 'on the bubble' about bringing your kids, don't be! The kids will actually be teaching *us* too! For younger kids, we'll be using a singalong format with movement and percussion (Humanist themed songs). The session for the older kids will be more self-directed, with them deciding what will be taught! They can pick our brains on everything from performance, history, writing, recording and publishing. Current events in the music world, etc. Adults welcome too! Everyone leaves with a small gift. 1/2 hour sessions for each age group. See you there!"

I don't have children, but I'm bummed that I'm not going to be able to attend anyway. This should be cool.

Planning a special music segment for the kids. Movement, singing and exposure to musical instruments. Each child will go home with a noisemaker!
