Announcing a new Meetup for Greater Houston Skeptic Society!

What: Presentations on Skepticism - University of Houston

When: May 2,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: From member Sam. His professor, Dr. Chiappetta, attended our meetup at Mardi Gras last month, and assigned his graduate class to research present a topic on a skeptic-related matter. Our group is invited to attended. I'm going, and anyone who would like to meet for lunch afterwards is welcome to join me.

I've included the email from Sam below, where you can check the link for the location:

The presentations will be Saturday, May 2nd, from 9:00AM to
12:00 Noon.

We will be in Farish hall, probably in the Kiva auditorium.

This is an "issue investigation" assigned by Dr. Chiappetta for
us to select a topic relating to science and the public,
research and present to our peers. The topics range from
medical claims like those in fad diets, herbal remedies, and
homeopathic "medicine" to far out claims like ESP,
psychokinesis and the like. There are 8 of us in the class and
we each have approximately 20 minutes to present our findings.
This is a graduate level education class with a focus on
science methods in an educational setting.

I've cleared it with Dr. Chiappetta that there will be
spectators coming and he is more than supportive of that. As
far as I'm apprised, this is a public event at the university
so anyone who happens in and takes a seat will be welcome.
