Well it looks just like the American Atheists logo as well

It's pretty simple and concise. Of course, the question will arise how that particular symbol relates to skepticism/skeptical thinking.

Not sure if this symbol is a pre-fab type thing with meaning already in it (like some kind of celtic knot), or if he completely designed it from scratch. Either way, it sort of reminds me of some kind of atomic electron orbitals diagram, which could be seen to relate back to skeptical thinking and thought as being rooted in science. What better to say 'science' than something as fundamental as an atomic depiction of some kind...

Well just my thoughts, anyhow.

Everyone:

Here?s my go at it.  It?s pretty simple, graphically.  If anyone has feedback or thoughts, I?ve included 3 different text layout options and 2 color styles.

I prefer the top, middle one.

I just picked a color, since I didn?t know if a theme existed already.

John-Paul/Rusty:

I don?t think an e-mail asking for a group logo is the place for this conversation, especially since this is e-mailing everyone in our group.  We have a message board on MeetUp if you want to discuss it publicly.  http://www.meetup.com/HoustonSkeptics/messages/boards/.

Ooops...here the gist of Keith's reply:
"I'm not interested in reviving the HAS brain logo. Not particularly interested in designing anything new, either. Unless they want to pay me, of course."

I'm CC'ing Keith McCaffety, founding genius of the late and sorely missed Houston Atheist Society.  He's a graphic artist and had a good, simple logo (lightning bolt coming out of a brain).  I don't seem to have a copy of it in my old e-mail files.  And, I don't know whether Keith had copyrighted it.  Maybe he can send a sample if he's agreeable to making it available.

I've been asked a couple times about having a logo for the Houston Skeptics group, to put on other skeptic websites. I am woefully uncreative in this regard.

If anyone has an artistic bent and would like to submit a possible logo, we'd appreciate it it. It would need to be fairly simple and clean-lined, no small or complicated details. (Think Exxon logo). A friend sent me an alien flying in a space ship around the city of Houston - it was too detailed and would not reproduce well, especially when shrunk down for brochures.
