The Hudson River School of Art: Paintings, Places, Period and Painters

Painters of the Hudson River School brought to the public a uniquely American style of art with their realistic yet romanticized landscapes of a new nation. They portray the places that we preserve, where we recreate, and honor as national landmarks. In this 90 minute presentation, Skip Doyle will discuss the works of the Hudson River School painters and their historical and geographical context (including how to visit these specific sites) with special reference to our Hudson Valley where the School’s earliest subjects were found.

Hi Skip - I run an outdoor/arts group on meetup and wondered if it would be okay to post this event on my group's site - also, we have been planning on visiting the Thomas Cole house in the spring and doing some of the hikes where he painted so this would be a nice event for us.

Dear Colleen -- it would be great to have your folk at the presentation. And come an hour early to view the paintings. If you email me your email address, I can send you the information sheet. See you there, Skip
