Hudson Valley Rail Trail

Our first official walk of the season!     The Hudson Valley Rail begins at the west end of the Walkway Over the Hudson.   We're not allowed to bring the donkeys on the Walkway, but we can start there and walk west until the group feels it's time to turn-around and return.    It's a  level, paved pathway that features mostly lightly wooded scenery although there are some stretches, like all rail trails, that run through the back-yards of homes and businesses.

There is an ice-cream/refreshment place right near the entrance and we can unwind there afterwards for those who are up for it.

I've purposely chosen a trail near me to get started.   I will be scheduling walks though-out the Hudson Valley.

Because of the proximity to the Walkway, the beginning of this walk will bring us by lots of non-group members and that always adds a fun dimension to the walks when we encounter (surprise) people on the trail.

Hi Heidi, glad you could make it today and that I brought Indy for the first time as it seemed you two really hit it off. She's a really sweet donkey and I'll try to bring her more often now that her foal, Dakota, is old enough to join us.

this initial walk is a get-to-know session?

Hi Cara: Not sure what a "get-to-know" event is. This walk is a typical event for this group-- to walk Hudson Valley trails with miniature donkeys. It only differs circumstantially in that it happens to be our first trail walking event of 2014 and so it will be a easier and there will be many first-timers there. The other two event types we have are the "Donkey Walking 101" events which are specifically targeted towards new members or current members who want more hands-on experience. The purpose of those is to acquaint people with my donkeys and donkeys in general, and also for me to instruct in, and provide practice for, how the donkeys should be handled. This helps keep their training consistent and minimizes the potential for incidents on our trail walks. The safety of my donkeys is my highest priority. The last kind of events are almost purely social such as the "Donkstock 2013" and "Happy Holi-bray Celebration" events we had last Fall. Does this answer your question?

YES, i guess I read a post from another meet....the HV rail trail one? dunno, but all good. Unfortunately, I am unable to make tomorrow's meet but wanted to be on the member list for future events events

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
