Join swing dancers all over the world celebrating the life of FRANKIE MANNING this May. The originator of the AERIAL in Lindy Hop, Tony award winner, choreographer, and beloved dance teacher, he would have been 100 on May 26th.
On Sunday, May 11 we'll be holding our own special tribute to Frankie to include:
2pm Screening of the Marx Brothers DAY AT THE RACES (1937). This film has been recognized as the top 100 funniest films of all time and features a famous dance scene partially choregraphed by Frankie. Following the film will be a video presentation by Linda & Chester Freeman (featuring historical and contemporary swing dance footage) and a Q&A with Frankie's long-time companion, Judy Pritchett. Admission for the film & talk is $10.
A swing dance party will follow the film and talk at the beautiful BELLTOWER next door to the theatre. 4:30-6pm. Admission to the dance is $10.
