Hull Digital / Hull Open Coffee March Meetup

This location is shown only to members

Hello everyone! smile

It's the fun part of the month when I can announce our next MeetUp!

Following on from the success of the February MeetUp and feedback, I'm determined to make sure that we get a decent amount of time to chat, network and catch up with new and old friends. The good news is that apparently there is WiFi at the venue, so do bring those laptops if you like!

So, onto the agenda (as it stands at the moment):

6.30pm Arrival and chat

7.00pm Sean Kelly is going to be presenting on Open Source Software: A brief introduction & history.

7.25pm Richard Griffiths, Kingston Communications’ newly appointed Head of Sales & Marketing for Consumer services will host an interactive session as the first step in a more open engagement between KC and the Hull digerati. This is your chance to have your say on the current Karoo packages and what you would like to see in future. (We are looking at a way to make sure that everyone's feedback and voice is heard, so watch this space how we manage this!).

8pm Free time! biggrin Mingle, chat, show people what you are doing online, or personal projects - chill out!

If you do have any questions, then please do head on over to www.hulldigital.co.uk and get in touch with me - always happy to help, and want to make these MeetUps great for you all!

Best wishes and please RSVP as soon as you can, as I have a feeling, this is going to be popular!

Blimey! Great response so far :-) Thanks everyone!
Chris - I think we will need an online survey form for the questions - good idea.

Tentative on this one, Tuesdays are never good for me and I've got a very busy week that week.... Typically I'll miss the one Dave gets to!

    Hi John
I enjoyed the meeting last night - quite a 'brain trust' you have gathered together.

The venue was excellent and the food was an unexpected bonus

Looking forward to the next one

Enjoyed the opportunity to hear Richard Griffiths present a human, humble and open minded voice for the KC brand. It can only be good to engage with an interested community like Hull Digital to develop new insights into what creative solutions can be found/supported to make Hull and its Business and Residential users truly committed fans! Would prefer the venue location to aid any after event opportunity to continue to chat/network/relax. Preferably central Hull?

Very sorry that Carl and I couldn't make it in the end, something cropped up at last minute. Sounds like we missed a great meet! Ah well, next month... :)

I commend Richard for standing up in front of what was always going to be a hostile crowd.

Lets hope Richard is the new face of KCom and is ready to listen to its customers, it was great listening to the KComs side of the fence, a very different perspective.

I am so pleased we had another great MeetUp yesterday! A HUGE thanks for everyone for coming along and giving up their time. A HUGE thanks for Richard Griffiths from Karoo giving a great talk and fielding some excellent questions - I thought it was a very useful session and certainly, from the feedback at the event, people also found it encouraging. Thanks also to Richard for organising the venue and food - I hope this worked well, and we also did have a decent amount of time to chat and connect to new friends. It was really good to meet some new faces, we seem to have a a wide mixture of people from agencies, developers, techies and the representatives from the council. Overall, a big thumbs up from me! Thanks again for coming along.

    Very open

Good to see some familiar faces, and thought Richard was very good. One comment for Richard - maybe next time we do this with Karoo, a techie guy could come with you to ease some of the flack! Thought you took the comments well and fair play to you for turning up. All in all, a worthwhile evening.

Felt a bit sorry for Richard Griffiths in the end. But he took it like a true politician... Enjoyed the networking time afterwards more. Some very diverse and interesting people. As this was my first meeting it was good to meet a group of people so focused on improving the area from a digital stand point.

really enjoyed it as a first time attendee. I assumed it was going to be a similar experience to HumberMUD but was pleasantly surprised that it has a different overall focus (more "techy"). look forward to next month.

Excellent - very interesting. A fairly unique opportunity to hear from a brave KCom person! Not to mention coffee and sandwiches provided!

Another great meet-up, many thanks to Jon for organizing. A good speaker which gave an opportunity for a much needed discussion on the provision of local communication services.
