We develop websites - but we farm out the design part of the work. We concentrate on the functionality that requires strong programming skills. From customising off-the-shelf packages to producing bespoke systems, the trickier the work, the more we enjoy it. We are experts at getting obscure systems talking to one another, always happy to solve a problem. We often work for design/marketing companies who can land the job but can't deliver the technology. We work hard, stick to our budgets, deliver on time, and so make our clients look good to their bosses :)
We're great at creating import/export solutions. Often these involve taking data from one proprietary source, putting it into a portable XML format, then sending it across to another. Sometimes these are one-off data migration tasks, but more frequently they are to tie legacy back-end systems to customer-facing websites.
Alford, Lincolnshire. (We're about 7 miles from Skegness, as the crow flies).
I'm the managing director of SteamDesk Ltd. I've been developing websites since the beginning - literally. Before Yahoo had a search engine it was just a hand-edited directory, and I was there with 1/2 dozen others in the "Web Developers" section!
Hull Digital is great, I wish there were enough smart IT people near me in East Lincs to be able to set up a similar group.
