Welcome to the human sexuality discussion group! This is a serious academic look at human sexuality yet the atmosphere is fun, learning oriented, and laid back - we can even make jokes as long as they are contextual, silly and not mean spirited! We will talk about current, present and future sexuality research, ethical and philosophical issues in sexuality, sexism, homophobia, discrimination, censorship, pornography and its effects, the effects of the sex industry, the history of sex, sex counseling, sex education, sex and economics, sexual abuse and recovery, human trafficking, varying cultural taboos and traditions, the medicalization of sexuality, tantra, sex and religion, body image, and more!
What this group is not regarding the sex industry: This group is not in favor of the sex industry or pornography the way it is - we believe it must change. Therefore we take a progressive stance on it's future and not a conservative stance. This group is not a sounding board for you to talk about how great porn is and how cool strip clubs are. Rather is a safe place to talk about how these cultures can improve and be more inclusive, and the benefits of those changes in society and on human evolution.
This group is not a place to meet people for sex or for sexual arousal. This will be a safe place for people of all kinds to listen, learn, explore, and ask as many questions as you want! If you prefer a gender specific only meeting that can be arranged. If you prefer to meet the organizer alone in private for a specific issue(s) that also can be arranged.
If you have a topic of discussion you want to address please write to the organizer - we are open to all ideas within our progressive stance!
$2- $4 sliding scale per meeting due to pay my membership dues.
This group is organized by a sexuality researcher and counselor.
