Volunteering at St Mary's Food Bank

Volunteer Opportunity

HSGP is turning out to help fight hunger in Arizona!

St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance, the world's first food bank, is a non-sectarian, nonprofit organization that alleviates hunger by efficiently gathering and distributing food to sites that serve the hungry. Serving two-thirds of Arizona's 15 counties, the organization is committed to volunteerism, building community relationships and improving the quality of life for Arizonans in need.

Location: 2831 N. 31st Ave., Phoenix. AZ 85009

Date: Saturday, April 27, 2013

Volunteer Time: 12:00 noon – 3:00 pm

Each Volunteer, youth and adult, will need to complete a release form. Release forms can be found under the "More" tab at the top of the page, in the section labeled "files". If you have volunteered with us at St. Mary's before, you do not need to fill out the form again.

Due to Health codes and safety reasons, a required dress policy is in effect! Volunteers MUST wear Closed Toe Shoes, Shirts need to be short or long sleeved (No tank tops, spaghetti straps, etc.) and Shorts are okay. Please leave valuables, purses or backpacks in your vehicle for your safety and security! St. Mary’s Food Bank is not responsible for lost and/or stolen items brought into our facilities! Stay alert at all times— Please DO NOT operate Cell Phones or IPods on the volunteer floor!

Parking is limited on some days due to activity at their campus locations. Let’s try to carpool as much as possible. East Valley volunteers, I'll be in southwest corner of the parking lot of AZ Mills Mall on I-10 and US-60 (behind Joe's Crab Shack) at 11:15, to leave at 11:30 for carpooling.

Email Michal Otten ([masked]) with any questions.

Hey everyone! While the start time says 12:00, we typically get started around 12:15 with a brief informational session about St. Mary's, with volunteering typically starting around 12:20 or 12:30. So if you are worried about being late (or have heard the shpiel a few times already and want to come a little later), don't sweat it!
