David Fitzgerald: Ten Beautiful Lies about Jesus
Why would anyone think Jesus never existed? Isn’t it perfectly reasonable to accept that he was a real first century figure? As it turns out, no.
David Fitzgerald’s award-winning 2010 book Nailed: Ten Christian Myths That Show Jesus Never Existed At All sheds light on ten beloved Christian myths, and with evidence gathered from historians all across the theological spectrum, shows how they point to a Jesus Christ created solely through allegorical alchemy of hope and imagination; a messiah transformed from a purely literary, theological construct into the familiar figure of Jesus – in short, a purely mythic Christ.
Join us as we hear Dave lay out the ten biggest “facts” Christians (and atheists!) get wrong about Jesus in his talk “Ten Beautiful Lies about Jesus.”
Doors open at 9:00am for optional breakfast ($5) and socializing.

The Humanist Society of Greater Phoenix presents its Sunday Speaker meetings twice a month on Sunday mornings.
We enjoy the company of our fellow Humanists and a lecture from a guest speaker and topic discussion ending by 11:30 a.m. Our meetings are free and open to anyone who is interested in learning more about Humanism.
Breakfast is offered for sale to members and guests for $5.00. For coffee only, the charge is $1.00. If you would like to have coffee and/or food, please pay at the welcome desk by the entrance door. Of course, donations are always gratefully accepted as well.
*Please note that being a member of this Meetup group does not mean that you are a member of the organization HSGP. Please consider becoming a dues-paying member of HSGP and supporting one of the largest non-theistic communities in Arizona. Membership entitles you to borrow from a large selection of books and DVDs (including DVD recordings of our Sunday Speaker presentations) from our Robert G. Ingersoll Library, and the privilege to vote for board members annually.
For your convenience, the membership desk is immediately behind the welcome desk at each Sunday meeting. Stop by to join or renew your membership in HSGP, or to update your records such as your email address.
Thank you! See you at the HSGP Community Center!
