March in the 2014 Pride Parade!

March with HSGP in the 2014 Phoenix Pride Parade!

Join HSGP as we celebrate Equality and Justice for all at the Phoenix Pride Parade! This is HSGP's second year marching in support of the gay community! This year's theme is "Be heard, stay strong, be you" - a very appropriate theme to celebrate within our own community as well.

Please wear an HSGP or Humanist T-shirt. If you do not have one, send Michal a message with your shirt size, and she will bring one for you. You can also buy one at HSGP before the event for $5.

To be extra festive, please consider wearing some rainbow items, such as beads, hats, socks, etc. If you like, you might also wish to bring a sign to carry in the parade. Michal will bring the HSGP banner for 2 people to carry.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Parade registration and line-up begins 8:00am and ends at 9:30am. The Parade starts promptly at 10:00am. Please arrive by 9:30 so we are in place and ready to go when the parade starts. Once Michal arrives and registers, she will post here what group # we are so you can find us.

Hi all, I stupidly forgot my phone at home, if you are looking for me, call (480)[masked]

Michal, do you know if there is parking anywhere near where we are to line up?

I couldn't tell you specifically, but since it is Central Phoenix, I'm sure there are garages nearby. I typically take the light rail into Phoenix, which is what I am doing tomorrow.

All: Walking Groups meet at 3rd Street and Windsor to line up. Once I check our group in, I will post here what our group number is and an approximate location of where to find us. You DO NOT need to worry about checking in with the parade volunteers, as I will do that for the group. Last year we were a few hundred yards down Windsor street from the sign in location. I highly recommend bringing water, hats, and sunscreen.

Hi. I'm coming with a couple of friends. next question is can we bring a dog? Also, I will need to order T-shirts for the friends. Michal, how do I message you the sizes?

Found out dogs are allowed to walk the parade route as long as they are well behaved and cleaned up after. But keep in mind it's a slow walk with thousands of people cheering on either side, which could be scary for a dog. Also, we waited around a long time before our group even started marching last year.

      OK. Thanks for your research!

Sure would like to see a lot more people sign up for this! Last year was fun and it was amazing the amount of supporters that lined the streets cheering everybody on. I expect to see the same thing this year. Btw, the protesters were confined to one street corner and they were pathetic. No worries there.

Sounds like it'll be great weather too! High of 79, partly cloudy!

Michal, To just march in the parade, do we need to buy tickets to the Pride Events in the park? Or is that separate?

    March 30, 2014

    • Michal O.

Good question! To march is free, but you'd have to buy tickets if you want to go to the festival afterwards.
