HP Outing: Doublers Collective Concert @ Sacred Grounds Coffee House

Humanities Project Outing

The Doublers Collective / Progressive Saxophone Quintet

Directed by Monica Shriver and arranged by Mike Crotty

@ Sacred Grounds Coffee House, Scottsdale United Church of Christ

$5 Adults, $3 Students

Doublers Collective was founded in 2010 by Monica Shriver out of a passion and desire to perform multiple woodwind instruments in a progressive jazz setting. Made up of five in-demand established jazz saxophonists, Doublers Collective is a high caliber, enthusiastic group interested in exploring all the color and sonority possibilities available using so many different instruments. The members perform on different combinations of piccolo, flute, alto flute, bass flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, sopranino saxophone, soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, bass saxophone, and bassoon. All top-notch educators, the mission of Doublers Collective includes performance clinics and community outreach. Doublers Collective collaborates with some of the best jazz composers in the world today to create a repertoire for this unique instrumentation.

Looks like fun, right? Mike Franklin highly recommends this group!

Every symphonic group has blowers, bangers and scratchers. It's fun to hear any one of those groups play without benefit of the other two. Looking forward to it.
