Sunday Speaker: A Tale of Two Humanists-Separated by 1600 Years, Prof Richardson

Sunday Speaker:

Professor James Richardson presents

A Tale of Two Humanists-Separated by 1600 Years

Professor Richardson will discuss the Roman poet Lucretius, a follower of the Greek philosopher, Epicurus, and the 16th century French essayist and philosopher, Montaigne. He'll also make a few comments on David Hume, an 18th century Scot who drew on both in his comprehensive A Treatise of Human Nature.

The Humanist Society of Greater Phoenix presents its Sunday Speaker meetings twice a month on Sunday mornings.

We enjoy the company of our fellow Humanists and a lecture from a guest speaker and topic discussion ending by 11:30 a.m. Our meetings are free and open to anyone who is interested in learning more about Humanism.

Breakfast is offered for sale to members and guests for $5.00. For coffee only, the charge is $1.00. If you would like to have coffee and/or food, please pay at the welcome desk by the entrance door. Of course, donations are always gratefully accepted as well.

For your convenience, the membership desk is immediately behind the welcome desk at each Sunday meeting. Stop by to join or renew your membership in HSGP, or to update your records such as your email address.

Thank you! See you at the HSGP Community Center!

Prof. Richardson was articulate, insightful and funny. He eagerly answered our questions. The topic was excellent.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
