Humanist Program: Central Ohio’s Inspiring History of Secular Activism

Central Ohio’s Inspiring History of Secular Activism [masked])

If you know history, you know that those "new atheists" and "new Humanists" are nothing new. We may be new to some people, but we've really been around for a long time, and the struggle for civil rights, freedom of thought, and church state separation has been with us since the colonial days in Franklin county. The accomplishments of early secularists offer hope for Humanists now as well as inviting us to do our part to make life better.

Board member Derrick Strobl will be presenting original research from primary sources about our hidden history.  Derrick will draw on his background as both a lawyer and teacher to present these encouraging discoveries.

Join us at 12:30 for pizza in the meeting room!

So interesting! But have to catch up on chores that are good-weather-sensitive. (Like repairing the garage door I backed into this week...)

We'll be talking about an rationalist who ran for president, a bishop who was tried for heresy, and many famous people who came to Columbus as speakers. We've discovered a lot of amazing things that have happened, and I look forward to seeing all of you there.

Interesting topic. I hope nothing comes up to keep me away from the meeting.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
