Pride Parade

Walk in the Pride Parade with your fellow HCCO members this year!  The parade steps off from Broad Street and High Street at 12 pm and ends at Goodale Park. Parade participants should plan to arrive early at our meeting spot at the steps of the Ohio Supreme Court. We have a limited number of spots, so plan to RSVP to our Meetup or contact Darrell Montavon at [masked] or[masked]

Thank you to everyone who organized and marched this year! I think this was HCCO's largest turn out for Pride. I had a blast!

Hey everyone. It is looking like a beautiful day for Pride this year!!! It should be bright sunshine and a high in the upper 80s. Just a few last-minute reminders... wear your comfortable shoes, don't forget the sunscreen and bring WATER! Unfortunately, in light of the Boston Marathon bombings, I will not be carrying my large backpack and water bottles like i did last year. We will be bringing as much as we can but everyone stay hydrated and watch out for each other. Above everything else, have fun! Happy Pride, everyone!

Are we still ok to ride the bicycles if we need to and can't walk the parade route?

      June 21, 2013

    • HCCO C.

      Yup.

      June 21, 2013

  • Cory W.

I have a parking pass for one of the garages down town at the convention center. If anyone want to ride that far with me let me know and I can pick you up at the HCCO parking lot.

If we could leave the kids at camp with Shawn for just a bit longer we'd be there. Sad to miss it again.

I got permission to ride by bicycle in the parade but am artistically challenged. Anyone want to help me decorate it?

    June 1, 2013

    • Susanne

      Yes!! :D

Still having it? I was going to ride my trike so Athena could attend, and she'd love it if her "princess carriage" was decked out. Otherwise, suggestions for decorations welcome.

Since the husband and I have only been able to attend a couple of events, we perpetually feel out of the loop. My husband just had knee surgery last week, but he insists that he will be ready to walk in the parade by the 22nd. :) Does the group do anything in particualr to distinguish themselves like carry a banner, tee shirts, specific color scheme, or just come as you are and smile?

You just need to show up and have a good time!

      May 28, 2013

    • Selina

Gee, nice to see the protestors behind you all. :D ha! This will eb the first parade for both of us without having to wear a uniform so it will definitely be way more enjoyable!

  • HCCO C.

Hi Guys! I just checked with Columbus Stonewall. You can use a bike while the rest of us walk. If you have any other questions, post them here!

    May 20, 2013

    • Susanne

      Awesome!!! I'll be there :)

      May 20, 2013

  • Darrell M.

Wow! the event has been up for 24 hours and already 18 people!!!! This is going to be a great year and dont forget, the Supreme Court decisions on DOMA and Prop 8 will will be withing a few days one way or the other. Probably the biggest year ever to turn out in support of the LGBT community. Spread the word.
