Field Trip! Boonshoft Museum of Discovery

FIELD TRIP!
We're going to head out to the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery (www.boonshoftmuseum.org) in Dayton, Ohio on Sunday, September 15th. The museum is similar to COSI (a bit smaller), with the additional of a small zoo, a mummy, and a dome-shaped Space Theater (additional charge for some shows in the dome).

For those of us that wish to carpool, we will start gathering at the Sycamore Street Kroger parking lot (MAP) at 10:30, departing at 11:00Update: not renting a van, as there didnt seem to be much need.  Still meeting in parking lot with blue Honda civic in case people would like to follow us.  I'll be parking on the far south end of the lot in as empty area of the lot as I can, so people can find me.

The Boonshoft museum is open from 12:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday. Admission is $12 for adults, $9.00 for Children. If you are a member of the Columbus Zoo or COSI, there is a discount on admission. There is no cost for parking.  There is an eating area with vending machines, but there is not a full service cafeteria.

How late are we staying? (for those of us riding in the van)

I'm unsure of the demographic attending, but, 5 hours might be a bit much for little ones? However, I was inquiring because I have dinner plans. :-)

So far, most of the parents with young children hadn't expressed interest in riding in the van. I expected to get final concensus the day of the trip - as you never know who is actually going to show up until the day of the event arrives.

FYI: looks like reciprocity (w COSI membership) is not honored here because the two are not more than 90 miles away from each other.

    September 2, 2013

    • Jamie N.

Thanks for checking. We've only used our zoo membership for that in the past.

      September 2, 2013

    • Margaret C.

Well, I called them today, and the representative stated to disregard the 90 miles criteria. So, they will honor a COSI membership for 50% admission. Sorry for the confusion.

Sounds good! If there's someone that you want us to contact when we arrive, let us know.

If I don't carpool, I might want to caravan.
