Secular Beginner's Kayaking Trip

Sorry to change the time Everyone! Consensus is 10am. Hopefully that won't be too early for everyone.

Join us for a Beginners Kayaking trip on the on the Big Darby Creek!

Time: 10 am (office opens at 9 am please plan to spend 15 min getting signed up and picking out your canoe or kayak)

Where: Trapper John's Canoe Livery, Grove City, OH 43123

URL: http://trapperjohnscanoeing.com/index.html

Rental Cost: $16/person Although we are meeting there as a group you are responsible for renting the equipment and following all safety procedures and instructions from the Kayak/Canoe rental company individually.  The plan is for everyone to enjoy an easy paddle down the river together.  We are planning to take the sampler trip http://trapperjohnscanoeing.com/services.html that ends at a nice recreational area.

Additional Details: Call or Text Susanne, for any questions on this meet up [masked]).  Please call Trapper Johns directly for specific questions about the rentals, kids, pets, kayaks vs. canoes etc.  Contact Susanne for more info about how the group will try to coordinate everyone getting together for the day. Camping is available but not planned for this trip.  If there is enough interest, I'd like to do a trip several times this summer as people get more experience.

Unfortunately, the migraine I appear to be getting will likely cause me to have to stay home. :( I will make it to one of these events dammit.

I took a look at the water this morning. It doesn't look bad. I'll still call at 9am and make sure the staff thinks it is safe for beginners and post another update then.

Hey everyone! I called to check on water conditions and they have a high water warning for today but they said they expect it to be back to normal by tomorrow. I will post a condition notice as soon as they open in the morning. I live close by so I'll drive by and take a look as well. Since this is a beginner trip I want everyone save. Please check here in the morning for an update before you head out.

I wish I could plug into this... I like the idea of more trips this summer and maybe I could make it to one of them. ;-)

I am looking for suggestions for both weekends and locations. I love kayaking so I'll go anytime I am in town and at least two other people want to go.

I am bringing my own canoe, it is a 12 foot solo. Trapper John's offers just a shuttle service for anyone who has their own kayak, canoe, tube, etc.

Hey everyone, I called Trapper John's for an update on water conditions and to find out how busy they have been. On the weekend's it is first come first serve and they said they have been running out of kayaks by 11am. They said once they run out then it is an average 2 hr waiting time. They recommended coming earlier. please email me ([masked]) direct with how early you are willing to go and if you have any canoe or kayaking experience. The other option is to show up at 11 get on the waiting list and have a picnic lunch while we are waiting.

Which trip, and would we be shunned if I chose a canoe (if I took Athena with, sounds like we'd need to canoe rather than kayak).

Presuming the short sampler or upper trip...I see above you mention canoes, so we won't be shunned. :)

Sorry, turns out I can't make it. I had a minor surgery and got stitches. If there is another one I will go. This is such a great idea, Susanne!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
