Winter Solstice Banquet 2012

The Humanist Community of Central Ohio is excited to announce JT Eberhard as their speaker for the 2012 Winter Solstice Banquet!

Eberhard is the author of the popular blog What Would JT Do? as well as a co-founder of Skepticon. He is well known in the freethought community for his activism on atheism and LGBT equality.

At our Winter Solstice Banquet, JT will be speaking about his experience in the freethought community and its impact on his personal journey. He will also reflect on positive aspects of the movement and goals we can reach for in the future.

Camp Quest will be providing activities for children this year at the Winter Solstice Banquet from 1:30pm to 3:30 pm. All children are welcome, but those younger than the age of 5 will need to be accompanied by a parent.

This year's banquet will be served buffet style and offers you a choice between Parmesan chicken breast topped with tomato sauce or penne with tomato basil sauce (vegan and vegetarian friendly). Both entrees are served with a house salad and Italian bread with garlic butter. Children will be served farfalle (bowtie) with tomato alfredo sauce. Desserts will also be served. Iced tea, water, and coffee are provided.

Registration: $25 for members, $20 for low-income/student members, $10 for children (12 and younger), and $35 for non-members. Doors open at 12pm and lunch will be served at 12:45 pm. You can register online (http://hcco.org/wsb_online_2012) or download a paper registration (http://hcco.org/wsb_paper_2012). If you have questions, please contact our coordinator at [masked].

Followup:Make sure you register by December 1st. A post with all of our details is available here.

BTW, J. T. Eberhard was a very entertaining speaker, and the award to Julia McCain was well deserved. She goes above and beyond the meager wages we provide her.

Nice event ! I was "skeptical" of the adult treasure hunt idea in the beginning, but later found it was a great way to interact with new folks! Good job board members !! : ) 'bout the only complaint i have, is that we didn't say much about the SOLSTICE--the reason for the season & the banquet. Some solstice music would be nice too! It would be nice if we could encourage dancing too with a dance floor (oops, need a bigger place ; ).

Great seeing everyone. I loved the lobby of this place. They would not let me get in the airplane though. Probably for the best since I don't have a pilot's license :)

Had a great time this afternoon. Great to see so many new faces and so many old faces (what?)... Food was great and I thought the location wasn't bad at all. Thanks to all who came and those who worked are to make the WSB a success

I was so very moved by the speeches of both Julia and JT, and re-inspired to work hard on my little role in this. It was good to see so many of you, and to make some new friends!
