Join Humanists Doing Good as we show part one of the Root of All Evil? In this two-part documentary, Richard Dawkins examines how religious faith is gaining ground in the face of rational, scientific truth. The program takes you to some of the world's religious hot-spots, both in America and the Middle East. Dawkins meets with religious leaders and their followers, as well as scientists and skeptics to examine the power of religion. Interviews with former Pastor Ted Haggard (Colorado Springs), the novelist Ian McEwan, the former Bishop of Oxford, and others offer valuable insights into the global impact and consequences of faith in the 21st century.
We plan to show part two in the future, but want to provide time for discussion after viewing the first part of the documentary. Be sure to catch part one so you can join in the discussion. For those who are unfamiliar with Richard Dawkins, this documentary can serve as a good introduction and a beginning point. Richard Dawkins has frequently found himself amidst some controversy and is considered to be one of the "Four Horsemen" of "New Atheism." He is the author of the best-selling book The God Delusion.
It should be noted that he objected to the documentary's title and finds the notion that there is any singular root of all evil to be ludicrous.
