The Humanists of Fort Worth is a dues supported organization for freethinkers, atheists, and agnostics in the greater Fort Worth area.  We are independent minds seeking truth through empirical evidence, reason, and science, rather than through dogma, tribal folklore, mythology, and superstition.

Humanism is a philosophy of life that affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives that aspire to the greater good of the world without reference to the supernatural.  We agree with Thomas Paine, the Father of the American Revolution, when he said, "My country is the world, and my religion is to do good."

Please join our Meetup group and visit us at one or more of our scheduled events.  If you like us, we hope you will become a dues paying member.  Dues are only $25 per person per year, $40 per couple or household, and $10 for students.

Our regular meetings are on the second Wednesday of the month at the Westside Unitarian Universalist Church in Fort Worth (attendance is higher than the RSVPs reflect).  What distinguishes us from other area freethinker groups is that we offer thought-provoking speakers and topics at our regular meetings.  We also offer social activities which we announce on this site.

Why, you might ask, do we meet at a church?  Unitarian Universalist ("UU") churches have no dogma, and many UUs are atheists and freethinkers.  Our organization was co-founded by a former minister of Westside UU who was himself an atheist.

Find out more about us at our other website:

All dues paying members are welcome to join our Planning Committee and have a say and a vote about future speakers, topics, and events and to run for office at our annual election.  Our group is only as good as our members make it.

The Humanists of Fort Worth was granted a chapter charter by the American Humanist Association.  We are also an Affiliated Local Group of the Council for Secular Humanism, and a member of the DFW Coalition of Reason, an umbrella organization for freethinker groups in North Texas.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
