National Day of Reason at Harmony Cafe - Green Bay

National Day of Reason Celebration Thursday May 2

The National Day of Reason will be observed locally from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Harmony Café, 1660 W Mason St., Green Bay.

The National Day of Reason is scheduled to coincide with the Congressionally-mandated and federally-supported National Day of Prayer. The American Humanist Association encourages all who value the separation of religion and government to join us in celebrating and building awareness for the Day of Reason.

Various groups seeking preferential treatment for religious organizations continue attempts to introduce creationism in public school science classrooms, while at the same time lobbying to divert taxpayer funds into private voucher programs thereby subsidizing faltering member contributions There has never been a better time to affirm our commitment to the Constitutional separation of religion and government, and to celebrate reason as the guiding principle of our secular democracy.

The event, hosted by the Ethical Humanists of Green Bay, is free and open to the public.
The National Day of Reason is celebrates reason—a core value of American society—to raise public awareness about the persistent threat to religious liberty posed by government intrusion into the private sphere of worship.

Event organizer Mike Layden says, “If you have a few words to say you will have an attentive audience.” Local elected officials and religious leaders are invited to show support for the separation of church and state. Harmony Café has reasonable priced menu items. Further information available at Americanhumanist.org.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
