Great as a "Board" meeting ... very productive and informative. Not so good as a way to reach out to other interested people. I think we should clearly explain in our notices the nature of the planning meetings (mostly business with some socializing as time allows) and have a 2nd event monthly or bi-monthly that offers perhaps a short thematic talk followed by socializing, or a "meet and greet" with socializing ... something that is not internal business but an outreach kind of thing (like the "liberally drinking" idea ... as long as we aren't promoting drunk driving!)

I think the problem is, and always has been, no consistent meeting space. It's not so easy to plan social gatherings.

How does the pot luck work?

Like I said before, I think it was a bad idea, I still do. The only way to convince people to plan ahead and sign up is to be consistent and not show favoritism at the expense of others, and that is exactly what you did Debbie.

David, we've been meeting for three years, and this is the first time that I can recall that we switched dates like this. The turnout has never been consistent, regardless of our consistency. It was one meeting, and there will be another in May.

As Lauren notes, it's Passover and my wife is having a seder. So I'll miss yet another HRI April event.
