Protest Hobby Lobby

The recent decision from the Supreme Court that grants corporations the right to freedom of religion over the rights of human beings, especially women to exercise their own, is egregious.

Hobby Lobby may have won in court but that doesn't mean this is over. No one who thinks women are more important than the fictional rights of corporations should ever shop at Hobby Lobby ever again.

Let this corporation and the world know, we are not going to let this go.

Bring signs, bring sunblock and wear hats. We want this to be a positive event, filled with freedom and the hope for a better future. There will be a chance for some short speeches if anyone is interested, and we will be inviting the media to this event.

Has anyone posted the Seekonk protest to the local Patch sites? There's the Seekonk-Swansea Patch at seekonk-swansea.patch.com and also the Bristol-Warren Patch at bristol-warren.patch.com and the Barrington Patch at barrington.patch.com

Di - good idea. I will try to upload info about the event. A Press Release will most likely go out - and if it does, all of the Patches are on our contacts database. Thanks for the reminder about uploading tho!

I would like to host a picket next Saturday, 7/12/14, from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Seekonk Hobby Lobby. I will call the police on Monday. Thanks for organizing today's rally...it was great! :)

Hi, I called the police the other day and told them that we will protest under the Hobby Lobby sign across the street from the Hess station on Rt. 6 in Seekonk from 10 to 2 on Saturday, 7/12. He said this should be OK. I wrote this to Steve on FB. Sorry that I didn't post it here.

Steve had mentioned media press releases, but, I haven't made any except that I notified all the press at the Warwick protest that we'd be in Seekonk on Saturday from 10 to 2.

I saw the article and photo in today's Providence Journal - good work! At least one customer said, "I'm going to Michaels instead." The Seekonk shoppers have that same option, as the Michaels store is only a block away on the same street (I'm just a local shopper, not an employee.) Women are the majority of Hobby Lobby's customers and have considerable economic clout in this situation.

Looking forward to learning how to legally organize a protest so we can do the same in Seekonk next weekend. Thanks!

The police in Warwick have been notified of our intent to protest, and I assured the police that this would be an entirely peaceful protest and that we would not be physically interfering with business or traffic in the area. We have every right to protest under the Fourth and First Amendment, and there will be a couple of lawyers and plenty of cameras on hand just in case. I expect there to be no problems, just a fun, informative rally.

So as to be sure that I will not be interfering with HL business - I won't even park in their parking lot.

I applaud your efforts, and I believe a nation-wide boycott is the way to go. Their stores will close one by one for lack of busines, bad publicity on top of a bad economy. I hope that HRI and all of your affiliate groups will jointly announce a boycott to the various media outlets. A nation-wide boycott will make the other corporations think twice.

I'm sorry but I can't make it.....I have to work tomorrow. I did, however, share this information with a client of mine that was going to make purchases at Hobby Lobby and she found some place else to make her purchases. I'll spread the word.

Steve, Hobby Lobby just opened a new store in Seekonk, MA in May. It's in the plaza at 165 Highland Avenue, where Michaels used to be before they moved down the street. I'm too disgusted to go there now.

Have a tour to give Saturday morning, so won't make it. Hope a good crowd turns out.
