Herb Silverman speaking at Books on the Square

Herb Silverman will be on hand to speak about and sign his new book, Candidate Without a Prayer. In 1990 Herb ran for governor and challenged a South Carolina law that prevented atheists from holding public office and won a Supreme Court victory, but not the election. He went on to become a prominent atheist and secular activist, and founded the Secular Coalition of America.

I'm sure we'll have some interesting questions for our guest on a wide range of questions and issues.

Copies of his book will be on sale so if you haven't bought the book yet wait until the night of the event so we can support Books on the Square for hosting this event.

This event is simply a great opportunity for our group. A good showing here will put Rhode Island on the map for secular authors in the future. Please come out and support this event.

Herb was a terrific speaker and a great guy. His stories are funny, he's a real advocate for a secular position, and he handled the Q & A with aplomb.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
