Every day we have opportunities to discuss with others what we and they believe and don't believe. Some times we choose to engage. Other times we don't.
When and with whom do you choose to talk about beliefs? Is it when an evangelist knocks on your door? When a family member, neighbor or co-worker casually assumes that you are a theist? When someone takes a political position that you think has been shaped by religious dogmatism? When an acquaintance asks for prayers?
The Humanists of UUCF recognize and nurture those whose beliefs and values orientation are primarily exemplified by Humanist thought. The group is open to all who would like to gather for fellowship, listen to speakers and discuss books and other topics.
We are a local group listed with the HUUmanists, a member of the Washington DC Area Coalition of Reason and an affiliate of the American Humanist Association.
Many of our members also participate in other local freethought groups including the Washington Area Secular Humanists (Northern Virginia Chapter) and the DC Atheists Meetup Group.
Most months the group meets on the first Monday of the month at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax, 2709 Hunter Mill Road, Oakton, VA. Snacks are out by 7:15 pm. Meetings start at 7:30 pm. See more at: http://uucf.org/humanists
