Just Views Free Film/Discussion Group: Caring For People and Mother Earth

We’ll watch “Mother: Caring for 7 Billion”, an award-winning documentary about pressing environmental, humanitarian, and social crises fueled by population growth. As of 2012, the world’s population reached seven billion. As population and global demand for goods grow, natural resource supplies diminish. In the film, humanitarian experts, scientists, environmental advocates, and women in developing countries illustrate why and how to bring down global population and personal consumption levels. Some solutions advocated include supporting women’s empowerment and family planning, voting for and practicing conservation, contacting policy makers of family planning decisions, and donating to charities dedicated to population stability and conservation. For more information, go to http://www.motherthefilm.com.

If you’re interested in population control, environmentalism, family planning, feminism, agriculture, consumer culture, religion, or international development, please join us. After viewing the film, we’ll discuss initiatives for social justice and ecological responsibility. We welcome active audience participation and all points of view.
