Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Ocean Science Lecture Series 2010

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • I don't know if this is the sort of thing other members have in mind, but I associate humanism with scientific inquiry and progress. Selfishly, I'd also like to see some activities a little further north, as it's hard for me to make it down to Stuart from the north end of Indian River County ;^) These lectures on Wednesday evenings are free, open to the public, and they sound interesting (to me, at least). The lectures could possibly be combined with dinner before or coffee after, to make it more of a social gathering.

Sounds like a great idea to me. I will try to attend. Are there similar activities in the Stuart area also?

Glad to hear that others are interested. Leslie, they haven't posted information about the 2011 lecture series yet at their web site, but I called the education director earlier today and she confirmed that they will be held again in 2011 -- weekly on Wednesdays at 7 (and 4) through March, then monthly thereafter. Next lecture is Wed 1/12; topic: ocean exploration. Leslie, if you call them too, maybe they'll take the hint and update the schedule at the web site!

I'm looking into this to see if there's a series this year. I'll post more info later. Sounds like a great idea!
