I hope to explore how I can use the written word to express myself to others. I'm looking for a genre where I feel comfortable writing. I'm NOT looking to become rich and famous, but will I be able to write something that might interest other people? Time will tell. I have spent several years trying to teach elementary special education students how to write simple sentences. Therefore, I'm out of practice writing with multi-syllable words and using more than one paragraph. I have a lot to learn and I am eager to get started.
My passion in life is reading and books. I enjoy a variety of genres. I LOVE children's books and have a HUGE collection of them. Growing up I loved poetry and even wrote some poems. I wrote them down in a journal, but that was so many years ago, that I don't know where the journal is now. Time to start a new one.
Music (And we want to keep that hidden for now). Growing up I took piano lessons and played the trumpet and French Horn in the band. I also sang in the High School musicals as well as several choral groups. I even took voice lessons. Music is another one of my passions, but my voice is VERY out of practice. I now sing in the car with my favorite CD's --and that is where is should remain.
Being retired at 62 years of age has given me time to take a breath and contemplate what I should do for my next career. Obviously, I can and will, substitute for extra income, but that really isn't who I am at this moment in time. I enjoy being creative, and public education just isn't creative anymore. Now I am looking forward to my future travels and experiences. I would like writing to be a part of the journey.
I am a recently retired special education teacher. I have been married for thirty years (to the same man). We have two grown children and three grandchildren. I have been too busy to write in the past. Now I have time to get the juices flowing.
Not sure what the difference is.
