What we’re about

This group is for people interested in going hiking anywhere in Humboldt and surrounding counties, sometimes beyond.  These hikes will range from leisurely hikes to challenging ones, with the primary goal of seeing all that is beautiful in the area.  We live in one of the most amazing areas in the world and it is our goal to see as much of it as possible.

By joining this group you are agreeing to the following practices and policies:
·  Outdoor activities carry inherent and sometimes unpredictable risks.  Event organizers will not be held liable for any incident occurring during a group event; they are volunteers offering a community service that you accept on those terms.
·  If you’re signed up for an event, you’re expected to be there or cancel.  If you simply fail to show up more than once, you will be removed from the group.
·  Dogs are permitted at the discretion of the event organizer, subject to local regulations.  All dog-related regulations will be observed, all droppings will be picked up, and service dogs will not go where other dogs aren’t allowed.
·  Smoking is not permitted on group events.
·  We practice a leave-no-trace approach.  All litter and food residue, including organic, will be carried out.  Short-cutting through switchbacks will not be tolerated.
·  Dues ($5/person/year) are intended to cover group maintenance costs, which total $180/year.  Payments may be made online, at events, or by mail.  If you wish to pay by mail, send a check made out to Ken Burton to 2010 Hummingbird Dr., McKinleyville CA 95519.
·  We try to minimize our carbon footprint by carpooling.  Members agree to participate in carpools whenever feasible and practical.
